Bactinettes

I bought some of this a few days ago and apparently the balls dissolve quite quickly, however i have checked my filter today and the balls have still not dissolved, i need some advice on this as i have lost a few fish lately, it is supposed to lower ammonia and nitrite levels.

The balls themselves are the feed and nutrients that the bacteria live off while in transit. The fact they haven't dissovled yet suggests they haven't got enough water flowing through them. I wouldn't worry too much. The friendly bacteria will have transferred to your filter media.

Bactinettes should not be relied upon to deal with nitrite as they have the wrong bacteria for dealing with nitrite in aquatic environs.
