Well I bought my background last weekend but can't work out what the best way to trim it down is. I've got a 4ft tank and I don't trust myself to cut a straight line across that sort of length even with a line drawn. So has anyone got any good tips or am I just going to have to go for it and hope for the best.

stick it on, with whatever method you are useing,
then use a stanly blade to trim down the seam (use tank as guide)

I was just going to stick it on with tape so not sure I'd be able to do it like that as nothing would be holding it on. Are there other ways of sticking the background on?

If it's the normal plastic type you buy from the lfs off a roll you can spread cooking oil on the back of your tank, place the background on to this and smooth it out being carfull to get all the air bubbles out, (I used a wood block covered with a tea towel) you can then trim it like wolf said. Sounds mucky I know but it really works well and stays on, easy to remove when you want and no sticky tape to be seen. :good:

Thanx for all the replies. Think I'll go with vasaline to stick it on with. Well all I've got to do now is find a free hour or so when there's someone here to help me get my tank of its stand, and who owns a stanley knife.
Thanx again
Dani
