Well i am currently trying to raise peacock goby fry and hadn't been paying attention to my other tanks. But I was watching the large tank last night and noticed the famale keyhole looking superb and scaring all the other fish i looked closer and realised she had been laying eggs and the male was fertilising!!
But they were fighting a losing battle against the loaches and catfish that are in the tank. What were we to do? Me and boyfriend decided the best course of action was to move themand the wood into a quieter tank, figuring the keyholes would be easier to move than trying to catch loaches and catfish. so we emptyed our 20gallon of the larger fish such as kribs, corys and barbs leaving the peacock gobies, badis and shrimp in there as they had nowhere else to go! and moved the keyholes in with the eggs and luckily it didn't upset them too much as after 5 minutes they were back to protecting them and laying even more. :D
The question is what do i do now? How long will it take for the fry to hatch Can i keep the parents with them? What do i feed them? :S

Thanks cometcattle think there must be something in the water right now for all these fish to suddenly start breeding. Tell you what thoughtmy Keyholes are so sweet. The female is really cute (as far as a fish can be cute) And is guarding the eggs even at night while the male goes round the wood scaring everything off. :hey: Really hope they hatch don't know what i am going to do with all these fish !! All fingers are now crossed :D

Damn it they ate the eggs!! :grr: Stupid Fish !! :grr: Aww well at least i know thay are mated and hopefully they will lay more soon!! :)

and I can now only see about 2 peacock goby babies so i suspect they are dying off as well :-(

Not very good at this breeding malarky just have to give it time I suppose. the keyholes and the gobies are in a tank together now. so they should both be able to breed in there. and the smallest tank will stay as a fry tank!!
