my local store is selling discus for 80$ each and african butterfly fish for 50 eack
to me this seems realy expensive but I live on Prince Edward Island and Im not sure as
i'v never seen them anywhere else
and im also curiose to see your guys prices for these fish

The african butterflys are over priced, I got mine for $10. The discus (depending on which type and the size of them) sounds a bit over priced.

What you may be disgusted at, someone else may love! Without knowing what species they are, we can't really tell what they should be priced at. Although since the store is selling the abfs for $50 and the discus are only 2-3 inches, I would venture to say that they are likely overpriced. They would have to be some pretty nice fish for them to cost that much.

That's about inline with what you will find for discus in local stores for the less attractive ones. The more attractive ones go for considerably more (>$100).

That does sound about right if they were a little bigger, but since they are only 2"-3", in my experience, they are usually cheaper. Unless of course it is a nicer specimen.

Fish are only worth what someone is willing to pay for them and if a particular fish is difficult to get in an area and there is a demand for that fish the prices will be higher, if that is the only store you can get to that stocks those fish then that is what they are worth.

I agree, personally if I find a fish that I've been after for a while then I tend to get it regardless of price (as long as it's not extreme)
