I have 7 boeseami fry about a 1/2" long at the most. So far they have been living in a net breeder, but in the last 3 days I have been releasing them into the tank during the day. The only other fish in the tank are 3 corys and the tank is heavily planted. I've been putting them back it the net breeder at night. I have a net around the filter intake, so the can't get sucked in. Do you think it would be OK to release them into the tank permanently or should I wait longer?

Thanks, Mikaila31

I dont thin k corys are big fry eaters, however I dont think corys have the greatest eyesight and tend to just put anything and everything into their mouths to taste it (mine do anyway) so you may need to be careful of that. I would tend to think at 1/2" they would be fine though. :good:

I often have corydoras in with fry and have had no ill effects. Most fry are too fast for corydoras to catch, and these are the silly and slow little livebearer fry I currently have that can even outrun their parents, so I imagine your rainbow fry stand a better chance. I'd release them into the tank. My biggest concern for your fry is them being sucked up into the filter, but I often just reduce the current. Your fry will love the microrganisms present in a planted tank.

hi
at 1/2 inch they should be fine with the corys, they should also be fine with the filter current too, we've had 3mm big baby mollies cope amazingly well in our filter currents in our main tank ( the outflow spray bar is quite strong & we also have an internal fluval which we turn up every now & again as a lot of our fish seem to love playing in the current) until we caught them & moved them to the baby tank
