I have a dwarf lilly hybrid plant growing in my tank and its growing at a rapid rate and i'm happy ^.^
My question is why is my plant leaves as translusent as they are.. are they supposed to be like that? And the roots are hardly in the gravel.. is that ok?
It also has something like what air plants have.. brownish spots that look like it was cut and "healing". Besides the fact that my gourami took a nibble off of it, it has those spots.
The other thing that has spots are my sisters and I's fake plants. These actually look like circles and not what the real plant looks like. I can't remember if they were there when we bought it but I dont think they were... Is this alge? If it is... what do I need to do to it?
And how can I help my real plant if its in trouble?
Tank = 10 gal US
Ammonia = 0!! YEAY ^.^!
Nitrites = ?? (no test kit for this yet)
Nitrates = ?? (same)
PH = 6.6
Thank you for your help! :thumbs:

Take a look at Nutrient deficiency's . It'll help you figure out what is missing so you can help your plant. It's a real easy chart to read, if you need some help nailing it down holler.

Well I dont see anything on that list that matches what i'm talking about but i'll take a pic and show you... i think i might need something to add CO2 however.. something is telling me that might be a prob but i will have to see.. :unsure:

Are the spots green, or brown?

If they're green, it is most likely what's called "green spot algae". As far as I know, the only way of removing it is manually (i.e. scraping), and then optimizing your conditions to minimize its growth and reappearance.

If it's brown, it could be what's called "diatom algae", which isn't really algae.

As far as the translucent leaves, I'm not sure. Are they completely translucent, and break apart at the slightest touch, or are they just very, very pale?
