I have a pair of JD Cichlids and they have drastically changed color since I got them and seem to never leave each others side. One is so colorful that it's amazing. Blue and Pink dots all over it and the other one is almost solid black at this point. At first, I thought it was just a coincidence...now, I think they might be breeding. Also, they are always locking lips and playfully smacking each other with their tails.

any idea if this is them breeding?

not got jd's but thats what my oscars do when in breeding behaviour. so probably yes. :good: well, getting ready to breed anyway.

Pics would help, if one of them is black it could be a sign of stress, also, lip locking isn't always a sign of breeding, it could be agression. Are you sure you have a male and female? Post some pics and hopfully I'll be able to tell, a side shot would be preferable.

Here's a crappyy pic of the pair. Another thing, a few of the Cichlids keep opening their mouths really wide like they are yawning. What does that mean?
