I have three Java Ferns in my tank that appear to be sick. The leaves have little brown spots on them. Kind of like bananas get after a few days. The stalks also have some brown speckles. Should I toss them and get some new ones? Or is that something that will go away eventually? Thank you. :)

How have you anchored the rhizome, (the bit the leaves come from)?

Do the brown spots more often than not, appear on the underside of the leaves? Also, if you rub it, does some of it come off? If so, this is normal. I think those are the spores from the java fern.

Yes just like real ferns (Real ferns ha I mean land dwelling ferns) They reproduce by spores. The little black spots are wher the spores come from and as said they are normal

the Javas in my Juwel have all gone to crap. They been there over a year and they got brown patches. they did produce babies on the leaves, but the adult palnts didnt really grow.

Trying them in the Rena too. in bothe aquariums they are tied to wood.

Not as easy as people make out ive found.
