Excellent place to get cheap fish (make some friends and that becomes free fish), good advice, a chance to auction your spare stock, and also rare fish that NEVER get into shops.
National societies (quick plug for the British Killifish Association) are fantastic if you are particularly interested in a group of fish.
I have not bought a fish from a fish shop in years!!!!!

killies aren't really our cup of tea, but there's plenty we are into!
we'd heard that you get loads of free stuff and fish etc, is it just people getting rid of spare batches of fry and stuff like that, suppose if there's a breeder there you might get first dibs.
Ask for Susan Kenworthy shes th big Chief of Otley AS.
I was a member of Bradford and District AS during the eighties. It's an excellent place to learn and get to places with like minded aquarists (experienced and beginners alike)
By the way Bradford and District is still going, but I don't think it's as big as it used to be. B&D as was the premier club back then (don't tell Sue this) Our Tableaux always took some beating at the Doncaster Festival of the Yorkshire Association of Aquarist Societies.
Otley AS meet in the Three Horse Shoes in Bridge Street Otley on the second Monday of every month at 8pm.
So to get back on track....I think you are making an excellent choice contact Sue at

You wont regret it.
