Hello.

I have a 600l tank.

It's had the same residents in it for a while now. They are as follows:

6 x Congo tetra's
4 x golden Panchax
2x female Festivum cichlids
2x female firemouth cichlids
4x old age pensioner Black Widows - more grey than my Grandma's hair is!
4x neon tetra's
1x bulldog nose plec
1x royal Tiger plec
1x pitus catfish
6 x cory's
some shrimp: lord knows how many I have. They bred, but it seems that Congo tetra's LOVE baby shrimp.

enviroment:
pH 7.1
Medium Hardness
0 ammonia, 0 nitrite,
30Kg's of Bogwood and Mopani
plenty of plants, but not what would be described as "Densely planted"

Filtration
Eheim Pro 3
Eheim 2234 plumbed in to main return with entire canister full of PolyFilter chemical filteation
Fluid Bed Filter for 1,000 liter tank - Deltec model
Large UV unit.

The tank is very peaceful, with only two current issues. The first is that the smaller of the festivum has got a huge crush an the bulldog plec an spends half it's time following them around and poking it gently. I think the bulldog gets cross occasionally, but they seem to get on with each other well.

The second is that my Angelfish ( a golden Tinfoil form ) is really bad at eating. It wasn't eating at all when I got it, but now it's been in a breeding trap for two weeks ( it's really small still ) i've managed to get it onto eating daphnia. Still won't eat anything else, but I'll keep trying.

The Congo's make a nice shoal, and are often joined by the festivums and the firemouths so that a great looking multi-coloured shoal is created.

The neon's and the black widows will be going at som point soon, as they were only taken as the home they had no longer wanted them.

I know that I have some more space to play with, and would be interested in getting some more fish. The bottom seems well covered, but I could do with something more in the middle and upper layers. I'd also be interested in medium to large sized fish.

The crucial thing is that anything I get is really peaceful and doesn't upset everything else. That's why I have all female cichlids, as this should greatly cut down the aggression from spawning, although I know it might happen occasionally.

Can anyone suggest anything that would look good and fit in well with the tank? I'm looking for peaceful, colourful and different.

Thanks in advance

Steve

Harlequinns are beautiful and use the whole tank to swim. They look amazing when in a shoal of 6 or more, and get on with most other fish - not 100% on whether they'd fit in your community though.

rainbow fish!

not enough people have them and theyd love you for all the space to fly about it.

my faves are the red rainbows.

the female is a slightly browner red.

yeah rainbows or rasbora's could work. not sure about compatibility but if you want something interesting at the top of the tank why not look into butterfly fish, or hatchett fish :D
