Just wondering if any knows or has made there only media that does the same as bio-balls or the the ceramic tubes / noodles?

As the seem very expensive for ehat they are! just something with a large surface area, and to disrupt flow?

Any Ideas?

Cheap old-fashioned nylon pot scrubbers like you get at the local dollar store in three packs, at least in America. Those have the most surface area of any other media and they don't have pores that clog up and need cleaning/washing. Though they made fade a little through the years they last indefinately.

My Eheim 2217 was full of them and they did an excellent job....although they do take just as long as any other media to initially establish.

Hang on may off found something, posted this on another site, and they came upi with nylon pot scrubbers?
As they have a very large surface area due to there knotted manufacture?

And there like 4 for £1 at the market!
