Ok, i have a ten gallon
i have
1 golden algae eater
3 sunset plattys
and 4 neon teras

Is this over stocked??

If it isnt what else do you think i can put in it
maybe a rainbow fish

any suggestions??

The saying is a gallon of water for an inch of fish. Figure a neon and sunset are around an inch each. That is seven inches and then there is the algae eater. I would say you are pretty good as is, but you could probably put another small fish in there.

The algae eater will get VERY big, and they get a little aggressive as they get older, too. (That's what I've read up on them, not that I have one myself). If I were you, I'd take the GAE to the lfs and trade it for a few pygmy coryies. I wouldn't add much else to that tank though. Plus, rainbow fish need to be in groups, too, so you wouldn't have room for those.
JMHO.

Yea I have a 10 gallon with an algae eater and 7 other fish, the algae eater I've had for a year or 2 and he isnt very big but I would suggest keeping your tank as is.

If you have Platies, you'll most likely have fry. You'll need to allow room for fry, and find a place to put the fry/give the fry to.

I also echo the statements on the CAE. While s/he may be small now, s/he will become larger and potentially aggressive with your fish. It's best to find a home for him/her now, before you risk stunting it.

yes thank you for the info

I am planning on giving to GAE to my lfs when it gets to big

Thank you

The CAE will eat the slime coat off of your other fishes skin which leavs them open to disease. I found out the hard way with a platy being the victim :(

bret

P.S i only had him for a month

The GAE/CAEcan get too large for a 10g. My 2 are 5&6 inches each the oldest being about 2yrs. They do get aggressive. If you do trade it off, get cories of some sort IMO.
