Haven't been on for ages!!!!! And a lot has happened. 3 weeks before Xmas my pipes burst meaning a new kitchen, bathroom and boiler, the water and heating was off for 2 weeks followed by chaos, I had to move out the house and stay at my mums, so for about 6 weeks my poor fish were fed, no water changes. The day before the disaster my 2 khooli loaches went mad swimming frantically round the tank, they did this for about 24 hours, I was sure they were going to die (lost my red tailed shark about a week before). Anyway, 2 months on and they're fine, back to their normal hiding behaviour, don't see them for days and days.
My common plec died 2 days ago, I thought perhaps as a result of the dirty tank however he was about 10 years old, had a hard life, at least 4 different owners, all inexperienced. He was only 7" long, very small for a common at his age, poor thing.
And 2 weeks ago my fry tank burst, I managed to rescue all the fry before the water disappeared completely but they're all in my small 2' tank now with older fry and 3 adult mollies. So the wee 17 gallon tank has 3 adults, about 15 juveniles and 20 fry in a breeding net. Even worse the 2 adult females appear to be suffering from internal parasites and I've spotted white stringy poo from some of the older fry
The LFS don't want them til they're about an inch long (which some of them are) but with a possible internal parasite problem I don't want to take them and risk infecting other fish. Can anyone recommend any good meds?
So, that's my update, I'm off now to change my tank profile after my disatorous xmas.
