I can speak for pucallpaensis, a fantastic fish I lost as a result of an icestorm. When I had to look at the 4 or 5 different Apistos I had when the crisis hit, that's the one I chose to try to get to safety. I failed, but it's the one I picked. I haven't seen them around here since.
Small, not madly colourful but absolutely fascinating. I would have kept that fish for many generations and probably never lost interest.
I had it as Apistogrammoides. Has the Genus changed?
T-bars are usually Amatitlana sajica, a very pretty but pretty basic Central American type excavator from harder water. I loved their beauty but found the type of tank they needed dull. They bred like rats and dug like crazy. But for all that, I liked them.
All I know about A. angayuara is it comes from fast water. Maybe our resident keeper of the more recently described Apistos, @Newbie can offer more.
