Anyone else love the look of their tanks early in the morning?

I'm not sure if it's because it's so dark and gloomy outside where I am, but I keep getting completely distracted in the morning just watching the tank lights slowly come on and revealing everyone waking up and going about their business. I'm finding it so relaxing that I keep running late for work and nearly missing my train!

I love the gradual morning light LEDs, especially in the dark of winter.

But we can look forward to Spring coming, and natural light hitting the glass for a short period (not enough for algae) is also a great sight. I'm a morning person, and I seem to have morning fish. I'm across an ocean, but with you on that experience. I have my own version going.

Which thank is the right one?

Every morning at 7:50 i feed my fishes downstairs when their light first turn on - is that morning - who knows - but everyone seems wide awake when i walk into the room after all it is chow time.

It's a slippery slope. Counting multiplying snails often leads directly to subtracting snails.

I sometimes wish the tanks were in the house, rather than a short walk through the falling snow out back. If I get delayed in the morning, I don't get to enjoy that artificial dawn. I really like that lighting feature.

hoping the very cold isn't heading your way @GaryE ... tomorrow's high temp here, is supposed to be -11 degrees F., with a low of -45 degrees... of coarse I have a cow calving probably tomorrow, so I'm forced outside for extended periods this week, with outside chores, in the brutal cold...

I'm just glad my snow blower can handle 16in deep snow.

It looks like the worst of the cold will curve northwest past us, with a bit of luck. Not everyone else will be lucky though, and that is going to hurt. I'd hate to be homeless in this.

We're looking at a possible windchill of minus 33 on Saturday. In central Canada, they're talking of -50. I've never been colder than -46, and I don't suggest it to anyone. It's a brutal feeling. Our members in the central US and Canada will be chilly.

I'll probably not go see my fish early in the morning. I'll put extra heat one and keep the well insulated fishroom sealed. No doors will open til lunchtime. But it won't be too bad if the forecast is correct, just -15 to -20 without the wind. One of the reasons I chose to move to the coast was the kinder, gentler winters. From now til mid February, things happen.

The coldest we ever had here, and for a very short time, but it caused it's damage, was below the boiling point of LP gas... that sent liquid gas to the regulator and furnace, causing it to carbon up, and quit, until we had it cleaned... it's not supposed to get that cold, but it will be really close... AI lists that as -44 F.
