Hi I have 5 in my tank, 3 black and 2 banded. They like to be kept in groups not on thier own. Mine are always chasing each other around the tank and where ever one goes the others will follow shortly afterwards. They are like a little family. I have a Hagen CO2 Ladder and you will often see them laying along the ladder rungs. I will try and find a pic of them doing it.

In my experience they are very entertaining and worthwhile having in a community tank. They must be kept with others though as they like being on their own or you will never see them. They also like to burrow in the gravel and will the smallest of spaces to squeeze into given the chance.

You have to be careful with mediciation though as being a memebr of the loach family they dont have scales and so medication will affect them quicker. I have only had to treat a tank once for Ich and I halved the dosage on the meds. I dont think they add to much to the bio load of the tank either.

Hope this helps, just make sure you buy at least 5 in order to see them and make them feel comfortable.

I have 6 of them in a tank with my dojo loach, they all swim around with eachother or do a funny looking pig pile on the bottom....or loach pile i gusse :p,when not craming themselfs into the smallest places in the tank as rfisher says.Preaty cool fish i think.

Thanks everyone that is very helpful. I've just got to find a supplier now.

Cheers again

i bought some a few days ago and can honest say they are brillient! they dig under my sand and venture out at night and early morning. they scavange around eating leftovers and blooodworms and look like a snake under water.my black kuhliis are often seen either under bogwood i have or next to thr bottom of the filter wher they push themselves as close as poss.
you can see little "pot holes" wher they have been digging and sometimes they will swim up and down the corners.great little buggers, they are.they dont creat much waste and end up eating fallen flakes/fish food so sort of lessen the bioload as the old food dont rot.(if that makes sence!?)

They have hysterical "mental" moments, where they whizz around the tank like nobody's business! They're some of the fastest fish I've seen in a tropical tank.
