I imagine that there would be a few fishermen/women on this forum so I thought I'd ask for your help.
I'm an architecture student and for my next project I am to design a small house for a fisherman. I don't imagine the house will be very large and it would be located very close to the shore so that maybe when the fisherman comes out of his house he can access a platform from which to perch on and fish.
I don't know anything about fishing or what kinds of things/amenities you appreciate while you are fishing.
So my question to you: what would your ideal house to use while fishing be like?

A few questions to get you going:
1) Would this house be used often throughout the year?
2) At what time of the year would it be more likely to be used?
3) Would you appreciate it if the house was self sustaining? i.e no electricity but a fireplace for heating and a stove for cooking? Would you mind if the loo was a hole in the ground?
4) Would you like any special areas for preperation or cooking or storing your equipment?
5) Are you likely to invite others to share your catch or would you prefer your time there to be solitary?

As you can probably tell the questions are pretty obscure but that's because I simply have no idea what you would need/require on a fishing trip-i'm only just starting my research- so if you could provide as much information about what you take with you and what you need when you are fishing it will be appreciated.

Thanks

Is this still going? As I can add a little/give some food for thought as ive done a fair bit of fishing in my time:)

1) Depends what your fishing for, fishing is season so yes it can be on and off, generally the winter months are a no no.

2) This was answerd in my last point but to re-phrase, general fishing is done more in the spring and summer months when fish are most active :)

3) Personly I like my luxuries after being stuck in the cold all day, central heating and a decent bog would be nice.

4) Deffinatly need a gear cuboard, having rods/line/hooks hanging about is a pain.

5) Fishing with friends is always more fun, make room for a few people.

Anything else?
