I was just at the fish store to get some supplies. I got a pack of frozen baby brine shrimp by hikari. I am confused on how to feed it though. They are in the little gum drop/square case. There are 40 squares. It says all you do is push it out through the foil. But I thought you werent suppose to feed frozen stuff while it is still frozen. It says if it is too much then thaw it out in some aquarium water, but also says you can not refreeze it :/ . How is this suppose to work? I am going to use to feed some baby fish. But I think it would be too much if I fed one square. And I would run out of it really quick, since I am suppose to feed 2 times a day. Can I have some help?

My bloodworm comes in the kind of packets- i just cut one of the squares and thaw that out, then dump it in.

But if I am doing it for fry then do I put the whole cube in?

Just cut a small piece off the tiny frozen block. I buy brine shrimp & bloodworms in 1 pound blocks, wack a hunk off, thaw it & feed.

you are supposed to stick the tank water in a cup and let it defrost there. shouldnt take that long, just stir it and itll break up and thaw really fast

what I do is take a cup and cut in half horizontally. Now take a little bit of water from the aquarium and put it into the cup. Now drop a small cube into the cup and mix it around until it is completely unfrozen. What I like to do is drop a little at a time in the tank incase the fish can not consume it all. I do the same thing with bloodworms and brine shrimp.

What fry and what tank substrate?

I usually only feed live baby brine shrimp, but I have used frozen. If you are feeding a few fry, you'd best put them in a plain bottomed tank - with snails. They will certainly not eat all the shrimp (sometimes it can take a few days to eat any) but the snails wille eat the leftovers an your tank will not be polluted

Try mixing the shrimp in water and dripping it in with a pipette

If you are serious about raising fry, I suggest you investigate live artemia and microworm
