As some of your know i am a student studying for a degree in Animal Behaviour and Welfare.
This means i have had the amazing opportunity to work within lots of areas of the Animal Care Industry; these have so far included farms, a zoo, veterinary laboratories, Animal Reception Center (airport), Llama Park, reindeer park, Kennels, Grooming Parlour etc....

I never thought of posting any photos, however Netty thought they might be fun to see so here goes - these are a few piccys of different animals i have met along my way.

WOW.....Definately worth waiting for.....great photos :good: Such a variety of animals too....I really envy you!!!!! apart from holding the tarantula

Thanks for putting them up :good:

Lovely pics! All the best in your studies and career. I used to work at a veterinary nurse and now just work part time (in my free time) as a pet-sitter (mostly for sick animals which need medicating).

Nice piccies Snoopy :good: I like the meerkat, they have some at Longleat.
I used to work with animals, well dogs to be more precise. I was a police dog handler in the MOD Police for 15 years. I was a dog section supervisor and trainer too. I came 15th in the UK National Service dog finals way back in 1988  Have used my dogs to track from burglaries, abandonned stolen cars etc....and used them to search for missing people, and dispersing violent groups of people. All good fun

Wow Andy! that is soooooo extreme.... i don't think anything i do is quite that exciting :( the dog training i have done has only been for pet's, showing and a bit of agility - i would love to get into working dogs and do training for water rescues or harness pulling etc.
I was offered a placement in the alps to train huskys to pull sleds; however i recently walked out on my job so funds are down the pan at the moment.
Police dog training sounds so hard; i bet it must be really difficult yet totally rewarding.
Any way there is always next year; Im going to do some work with wolves at the reading wolf conservancy trust at some point, so that should be nice.

:good:

some very good picutures there and a great variety of animals, i am hoping to do something similar oneday

you should definitely go for it - i have never done anything as rewarding as working with animals - yes the pay is crummy - but its total job satisfaction!

Fab photos! I noticed the Tapir and I have to ask have you met any Capybara (worlds largest rodents, look like huge Guineas)?
I am a dog groomer, I have studied at college and do a National Certificate and Diploma in Animal care.

I orginally wanted to become a Vet Nurse but decided it wasnt for me because of the side putting animals to sleep etc. I did have a few months work experience and I enjoyed it but cried every time we had to PTS an animal, prehaps I would have become hardened to it but and I know its part of life but not my strongest point.

Wonderful pictures!
I love the tapiirs :D

Amazing Pix,

I love animals and have had the oppurtunites to spend time with some amazing animals. Hippos are another amazing animal, but they are very skittish and those tusks  . I love capuchin and tamaranian monekys.
I love elephants and how they look right thru you into your core with that peircing eyes. so full of life and knowledge. Their ulrasound is still being researched as it is so powerful.

Did you get to handle the Cheetahs. they are the most regal big cat of all. I have handled some Cubs      , when the big cat curator bought them down to Dads Studio for some shoots. Still have the neg's somewhere.
My Dad is a Professional Photographer and he used to handle all the photography work for Southam Zoo, before it went bust and they had to slaughter most of the animals.
was a heartbreaking day, as i spent alot of my youth there with the keepers and handling the animals.

I have always grown up around all sorts of animals, on my mums side my grandparents, and great/ great great were all vets in the Indian Army.
Always wanted to be a Vet but the costs are too extreme, family could never afford the uni fees.

Gorgeous pics. Those animals are amazing. What a wonderful job to get into. I really envy you. Those African elephants are gorgeous. I adore ellies and of course the rest of the animals too (although not too sure on that spider). Those Tapirs are soooo adorable.
