today I saw some angels in my lfs, but they didn't have those long fins like normal ones.
the name tag said something about mono angels...
they actually looked incredibely cool, but I was wondering if these fish actually exist...

I guess I found what they are: monos or fingerfish...
never heard of them before, but truely very nice fish :)

In case you didn't know, they are a brackish fish, so unless you have a brackish tank, please don't get them.

Sorry if you already knew this ;)

P.T.

yep, I've read this, but thanx for the info anyway...
and I'm not going to buy them, can't afford another tank :)

Brackish? We have one its about 4 inches now its been in a freshwater tank all the time

It actually advances to full saltwater or heavy brackish at adulthood i think. Ask CFC for specifics.

Monos are brackish/marine fish and are only found in FW as small juviniles, by the time they are 4 inches they should already be moved on to water with a SG of at least 1.005 and prefferably 1.010, semi adult and adult monos will not live long in FW. They are also schooling fish that should be kept in groups of at least 3 and as they grow to around 12" when full grown they need a tank of at least 4x2x2' and prefferably longer.

This so annoys me ,we only bought it about 3 weeks ago from the fish shop, someone moving had sold all their fish to them including the mono,we were told it was ok for fresh water :grr:

Now what?

Have get rid of it some how. :(

Stupid bloody fish shops .

Let me know where in London you are and i might be able to rehouse the mono with my 3 in my big brackish tank if you want.

CFC is so caring for the fishies!

Seriously if you cant rehouse it yourself think about passing it on as it would be a shame to see such a beautiful fish die because of a fish shops lame advice!!! Remember it is always good to go back to the fish shop and TELL them their error, remember, not everyone who owns fish shops are in it for the passion of fish....

Anyway there are some great fish shops in London Im sure CFC can reccomend you some, or you can visit the Practicalfishkeeping webesite (.co.uk) and search from there.
