Hi sorry if this is the wrong forum to post in. My angelfish recently bred and laid tons of eggs. I noticed the next day however the eggs were gone without a trace! Is this normal? Did something eat them? Thanks
Ps. Tank has gouramis, loaches, plecos, and snails. Fish are doing great, no advice on setup please just want to know what happened the to the eggs

Could have been the parents - could have been another fish snuck in there and ate them. Leaving the lights on at night (not the tnak light but the room light) helps a lot.

If it's the first time they have bred, it is quite possibly the parents. Cichlids which were reared away from their parents don't know how to rear their own, they have to learn. Most commercial breeders remove the eggs from the parents as soon as they are laid so the fry never receive parental care. It can take some cichlids several attempts before they stop eating the eggs, then a few more attempts before they stop eating the fry before finally raising a brood.
