My tropical tank at home is looking really boring.
I have an angel fish in at the moment and my boyfreind is desperate for cichlids of some sort. Is this a good idea? If not does anyone have any ideas of what we could put in that would be lovely and colourful?
thanks

Do you have info like - the pH, GH and KH of your water, size of tank, whether the Angel is the only occupant (what other fish you've got in that tank) and what decor its got (i.e. is it planted).

It will give folk more of a chance of thinking up bright ideas. (Fraid it won't be me with the bright ideas - I don't get them ;) )

well:
1 angelfish, 2 clown loach, 5 neon tetras,4 glowlight tetras, 1 plec, 2 dwarf gouramis.
Its a planted tank, 25g. we keep it at 25.C.
pH 6.4, KH 3, GH 7.

:) Apistogrammas, Kribensis, Rams or maybe Checkerboards. All dwarfs as Davy also reccomends. Mac.

well you see that was half the problem!! I read that angelfish were cichlids too so I thought it would be okay to put another type in too.then the man at our local fish shop said not to put a cichlid in with the angelfish, then it got confusing!!

The prob with Cichlids is, that the bigger ones tend to be more aggressive. But if you got for a dwarf, which are smaller than the angle, plus if you stick to a pair, all should be happy.

Pick from the list above and you should be fine, if you want. When you see a pair you like just ask us lot if it'll go or not ;)

well there are a pair of blue dwarf rams now happily cruising the tank. thanks everyone! :D
