I think that's what the long skinny fins are... I have an extreme mutt angel that originally had normal or slightly longer than normal ventral fins, and they apparently keep breaking off... Mrs thinks the tiger silver dollar in the tank keeps biting them off... I don't personally think so, as those 2 fish are buddies, and nearly inseparable I would expect if one kept biting finage, the one getting bit, would not allow the other near it, and these two are always side by side... so I think this fish has brittle fins, that keep breaking off... it keeps regrowing them... is it normal for an angel to continually lose it's ventral fins, and keep growing them back, or is it like I suspect, that this fish has poor lineage??? it was a pet store angel, and it looks like a cull from the orange breeding line...

my blue zebra lace angel in a different tank, I don't think has ever lost a long fin. and that fish is also paired with a silver dollar...

The silver dollar is the likely candidate, by a country mile. Friends? In a tank, they have no choice but to hang around together. I've never had an angel lose a fin without another angel or a tankmate finding it first. They don't just break off.
