I just got a 45 Long aquarium secondhand, with a filter and a heater (which got thrown away) for free! But, I have no idea what to put in it. What would you guys suggest? By the way, those of you that have secondhand (or third secondhand :lol: ) aquariums, how did you find them? I'll tell you how I got mine.

90 Gallon, saw it in the paper. Came with gravel, (more than enough to fill all the aquariums I have and then some) Filter, Heater, Plastic Plants, and stand. $175.

55 Gallon. Bought outside an antique store, tank and stand for $50. The woman who was selling it said she lived in New Orleans, and needed to get rid of the tank. Works great, couldn't be happier with it.

45 Gallon. Uncle's boss was getting rid of it, was going to throw it away. Now why would I let him do a thing like that? :good:

EDIT: spelling, as usual ;)

we happen to be on the elevator and a guy got on and asked if we knew anybody that wanted a fish tank. we had been looking for a 55 gallon for a while and that just happen to be the size that he was getting rid of! we picked it up for $60; tank, stand, heater, and a new filter that cost $60 alone!

talk about being at the right place at the right time!!!!

Well the 1st one we got on sale at Meijers (6g)... and that spawned an obsession ;-} Thankfully a little more education was obtained before we got our next one which is the 29g that was posted on the local college's message board. 29g, whisper 40 filter, 150w heater, airpump, gravel, etc for 50 bucks ;-}

My first ever tank (6g) was actually initially a hermit crab tank that I inherited when I was about nine. Hermit crabs passed away a few years later, tank was washed and went into storage. Throughout the rest of my primary school life it had housed tadpoles in spring, an injured lizard for less than two hours and silkworms.

When I got to high school it went into storage again but last month I got it out, gave it a scrub and it is now a divided betta tank!
