Alright, ive got an eclipse system 12 (12 gallon) and its heavily planted and has a small piece of driftwood. I currently have
5 fancy guppys
3 harlequin rasboras
2 neons (read the bottom before you jump to conclusions)
2 threadfin rainbow fish (one male one female)

I do regular water changes of 20% a week and gravel vac any open gravel areas that i can get to. I know im not supposed to keep neons in groups smaller then 6, as with harlequins however the neons were in my friends tank for a year and a half before i got them, and she had about 20 and those were the only ones that survived. Same with the harlequins. They are happy and they swim about in the front of the tank, and do not nip the male guppys or anything, same with the harlequins. The rainbows are also happy, theyr male is always showing off his fins to the female, but shes quite alot smaller then him right now (i got her when she was really really little). Going by the one inch per gallon rule of thumb, i have about 16 inches of full grown fish in there.

Again, sorry for the post everyone always puts up, but im just curious.

It's probably fine. If you've got male and female guppies though, of course once the fry start coming you're going to get overstocked.

but as of right now I'd say you're at the limit. I wouldn't add anything more.

yeah i know about the fry... Ive already taken the survivors to the LFS last time they were born, so ive got no problem there. I just did the "survival of the fittest" method until they got big enough to catch and be able to sell.

inch per gallon is a rule of thumb, not set in stone. I think that sounds OK to me but don't put anything else in. Quite simply though if all your fish seem healthy and happy and your not getting loads of diseases or problems then your tanks more than likely OK :) If it aint broke, don't fix it
