Hello,

I have had a Tetratec Ex1200 running for over 4mths now. I like it compared to my internal Juwel Filter but I was expecting really clear water but I see particles floating about, I don't know if I am expecting too much from the filter. The tinfoils I have are quite large and they do produce a lot of waste so it is a lot of work for the filter. I clean the filter every 6 weeks and I have put wool on the top to catch the particles. I have also tried adding wool at the bottom on top of my media to see if this would help, but I still see waste floating around the tank. i have to stress it is not a lot but still enough to annoy me. I also tried some chemical that breaks the particles smaller for the filter to handle but I believe the LFS just got more money out of me and the product was not that good. My CAE moves about alot stirring up the sand as it darts about.

Do I just put up with this or Is there something else I could be doing?

Help appreciated Thanks.

clean it out once a week as well as the tank water 20% and it will be much clearer

you could be experiancing a particulate problem.
this can be cured by adding interpet no3 (filter aid)
this makes all the fine particles clump together and thus allows the filter to trap them.

do those chemical products that clump together particulates actually work? because i've used api accu-clear and it had absolutely no effect. i'm in the usa btw, so no interpret here.

I bought some here not sure what product it was but I did not find that It helped any.

just change the filter floss more often (once a week would be best) and it will sort your problems out

the two brands I've used do interpet and sera
as your in the USA look out for Sera aquariclear (i think that's what it's called)
