second time ive posted this please dont ignore me i need help badly!

20 gallon with 3 ghost shrimp, dojo loach and dwarf gourami

shrimp are healthy

last fish that died had half of his body turn brown (powder blue gourami) and had ich on his eyes and fins

living gourami has one ich spot on both eyes and fins

dojo has one ich spot on left side and has white spot on his face. (its big)

tank has been set up for 3 weeks

ammonia-.02
ph-7
temp- 81

right now im using a med called nox-ich, however it treats all external parasites

Can you test for nitrites/nitrates?

How big exactly are these white spots?

Have you treated the tank for anything?

in order

no, i going to the petstore to get dog food though so i guess ill get test strips

about the size of its eye (its just the one between the dojos eyes, the others i know are ich)

yes, ich, i edited my first post

DID YOU CYCLE THE TANK?

turn the thermometer up to 30C, buy some whitespot treatment and follow its instructions

try and get ammonia and nitrites down; do a big water change

Get the liquid tests, the strips are no where near as accurate.

Sounds more like Velvet. I have also lost lots of fish over the past few days, and although ppl on various forums have diagnosed allsorts from fungal to bacteria to flukes, it turned out to be Velvet!! The body turning brown kinda gives it away. It can also cause white spots and be confused for ich!

Sorry for your losses BTW!! It sucks big time!!

Andy

Forgot to mention I used Interpets Anti slime and velvet. It seems to have done some good as my remaining fish seem to be a lot calmer today :)

Don't get test strips they are completely useless get a liquid test kit such as api freshwater master test kit it contains everything you need to test your water and lasts a long time.

What is the texture of the lump like and is it an even colour?

The spots on the eyes are they spots or white specs behind the lens of the eye.

Velvet will show its self as golden yellow spots, a gold dusting on the fish, or a rusty coloured varnish.
Turn tanks light out and shine a torch on the fish to see if you can see anything.

i cant get the test master kit as i do not have enough money

the "lump" is snow white and i cant touch it, cause i cant find it and my plants are rooting in

bagu, i tried to cycle it, but my dad likes things his way ( used to keep fish) and he never cycled so he said that it woud be a waste of time. so i guess i was right.

what does 30C convert to in F?

30C=86F. Hope the tank isn't that warm, that dojo won't like it.

thank you, i think 82 is the extreme for the dojo, but its for his own well being. so ill keep it at 82

how do you post picutres here?

that way you can see what they look like.
ill try

Your water quality is likely to be bad, you need a test kit or you can take some to your LFS and they should test it for you free of charge, just make sure you write down the results and post them asap as they will help a great deal with a diagnosis.

hey man!

i had the same problem, my dad said why do this crap? i never done it in mine :(

i just realized that i can get some water and take to the store when getting a vacumm pump, any way here are the pics, you can probably not tell the gourami, im trying to rehydrate the body. (forgot about the body when it died, and i left it out, now it smells

i do not know how to upload the photos, a little more help please?

Hey!
I have nox-ich too and at the back it says it treats ich AND velvet. I highly suggest you get liquid tests.
They are far more accurate. As for the cycling... The good bacteria in your tank probably isn't build up due
to the lack of cycling.
How to upload pics:
When your writing your replies if you look down (just underneath manage current attachments) there is a
browse button... click on it and choose the picture you want from my pictures. then when the URL
for your picture is in the empty box click on the green UPLOAD. Then it should be in manage current attchments . Click on
manage current attachments then click on your picture. Then you should get a weird looking link on you reply something
simmlar to this (pic2_56_fish.JPG) or something like that... There then when you post the reply instead of (pic2_56_fish.JPG) there will be a picture.
Good Luck!
