Well, I've had my tank up and running for a few months now, been through a few changes here and there, and have learned a good bit along the way. Tending a tank has taught me a lesson in patience too, but the reward has been well worth it as I enjoy my fish so much. The advice and tips I've gotten on this forum have been invaluable to me along the way.
It's an 18 US gallon tank with the following stocking:

3x Bloodfin tetras
2x Von Rio tetras
4x Swordtails (3F, 1M)
3x Panda Cories
1 CAE
Numerous malaysian livebearer snails.

I'll post up some pictures over the weekend as I get some more time.
In a couple months Im going to get a larger tank, probably 40-50 US gallons. My CAE will be going into the bigger tank as she will soon outgrow the 18 gallon.

Ok, put together some pics:

This is a good shot showing quite a few different fish, including all 3 bloodfins.

Pandas!

These snails are cool and look good in the tank.

One of my pair of oddly transparent Von Rios. They have the pink but none of the orange at all.

Male sword chasing one of the two females around. (really hoping for some velvet wags)

The other female sword, I'm pretty sure shes pregnant.

The tank at night with the fun little LED light kit I found at PetSmart going

Hi Thirdfloor :)

Thanks for making this thread. It's good to hear that you have been successful at setting up your tank and are looking forward to starting another one.

Absolutely LOVE that night set-up!!!!! Lovely fish too! :hyper:

Thanks ! those little lights are so addicting, there are 3 of them on little suction cups and they rotate all around so you can point them where you want, and they are fully submersible so you can really get creative. I'm sure my fish hate it since my hands are in the tank every other day re-arranging the colored lights

I woke up this morning and went to my tank as I always do to check things out and couldnt find one of my female swords, the dark red one in my sig below. I didn't get too alarmed because sometimes they hide, but after a while I did become concerned because I just couldn't find her anywhere. After moving a couple objects in the tank I found her after all :-( she had died through the night :-(
:rip:
So, I'm off to the not-so-local fish store now to get a couple more pineapple sword females to keep my other one company. Plus I think it will help if all the females look alike, yes?

Ok, so I'm back from the not-so-local fish store with two beautiful new female pineapple swords and here are some pics!

I was lucky enough to catch all my swords together in one shot, the three females and the lucky male.

And just because they are cute and this one was posing, a panda!

Im curious to see if any of you can guess as to what the fry will look like? Im assuming they are already pregnant with mystery male sperm since they were in a tank with males, but we will see.

Guessing that you got them from petsmart from the post above, and i know for a fact that they seperate they different swords by name/tank. So i would take a guess to say the babies will be pinapple.

Ah no, I only got the lights from petsmart. I dont buy fish from chains.
I go to a privately owned fish store for fishies :hey:

My question is more to see how much influence the male will have on the coloration of fry from a pineapple mother.
