My new tank, is still unacountably cloudy, and I just dont know why. I have bog wood, which has stained the water nciely, but there is an od whity-opaqueness to the water, that I cannot seem to shift...any ideas?

I am no expert and new to it but i think carbon in filter helps.

Although if it is new tank, during the tanks cycle it will do this as it is bacteria, it does clear.

Well, first question is, how old is the tank? Second, what kind of filter do you have? And what are your water conditions? If you can answer some of those questions it will help us pin point your problem and hopefully aid you in a solution.

Before asking questions, it's always a good idea to check out the pinned topics and also do a quick search. When I searched "Cloudy Water" I came up with over 5 or 6 good results that could possibely answer you question. Click here to check out the search results.

tank is fully cycled, has meia that has been seeded from another filter. Its an AQUAART 60l.

I replaced the sponge/activated carbon in the filter with ceramic media (as carbon would remove the tanin from the water, which I want).

The tank is well oxygenated.

Its the first time Ive used fine gravel/laterite/sand, all were washed extremely well before hand.

Using the strip from a tetra test kit everything checks out fine, pH is 6.8-7, I expect a small spike in nasties after the first fish introduction. But unfortunately the tank has been a little cloudy since day three of set up.

Yes I've read the cloudy water section, I'm not new to fishkeeping (though obviously always learning, and keen for advice!).

I'm tempted to give trying a partial water change, in a few days, using bottled water (thats been treated to remove CHlorine, and pH balanced, so it doesnt alter the chem of my tank too much.

Anyway, thanks again, its just a little bit of a mystery....
