Since I got the otocinclus about a month ago, I`ve been feeding them algaewafers! I`ve offered zucchini but they did not eat it.

Yesterday I did a 50 - 60% water change in the afternoon with a thorough gravel vac! In the evening I fed the fish. I feed flakes and freeze dried bloodworms, everything is eaten within 3 minute. I place 2 algae wafers in the tank every second day. I saw the Otocinclus eating at least one wafer last night.

This morning I have some kind of residue over my driftwood, rocks, some leaves of my plants, and the mossball. I`ve recently switched to Big Al`s water conditioner and have used a little more conditioner than instructed. The fish are behaving normal so far!

Now I wonder if the algae wafers can cause algae growth or if the conditioner has caused some chemical imbalance in my tank!

Update: the white deposits have cleared up some.
No one else has had this before?

you only really need to feed Oto's waffers every week. It sounds as though you're over feeding. Fish only need feeding every other day.

Thanks for replying! So feeding 2 wafers every second evening is too much! Check! Maybe that's why they didn't touch the zucchini, their bellies were already full! I was so concerned about not wanting to starve them, lol

Sorry if I'm stupid about this, but is one wafer once a week for four otocinlus going to be enough? Supplementing with zucchini or cucumber once a week?
