well when i changed my tank totally u purchased all of my plants new since the old plants were covered with algae, well this is what happened

when i placed the fish and the old plants in a bucket, left it there for around 4 days i think to a weekweek and when i looked at the plants again because i was gonna give em to my griend, they were almost algae free :) except for 1 leaf or two better then bleaching i thnk ? :) or no ? o ya the plants were derived of light for the whole 4 days, the fish too while the new tank was settling down

It's a fool proof method. Only thing is just don't uncover the tank for the said period. Will do your fish good to go a few days w/o some food too.

But this is not the long term solution to algae problems. That can be done by adjusting your water params. Maybe you have excess phospates or some other nutrients in your tank, that is the answer.

Blackouts can only be a short-term cure, that's my point.

ic :D right now im not having a big algae problem that was with my 1st attemp, im now at my second and so far so good, still no algae outbreak :D
