I had two ottos in a 6 gallon and they were fine. One would be much better than amano shrimp at cleaning algae.

Ottos need to be kept in groups.

ottos need groups of 5+

As stated, Ottos prefer to be in groups, they also prefer a mature tank as they are quite sensitive fish.
