hi,
just want some oppinions on why we get algae eaters,
when i was new to fish keeping i thought you had to have some thing to clean the glass, so i ended up with a cae. i now i have a very hansome L204 flash pleco, not to help clean up but for his colours.
what made you choose your fish? :fish:

Well I've got 4 plecs and a tank with algae on the glass still  I'll tell you what WON'T make me pick algae eaters in future!

Seriously though, I bought them because I love plecs, not for cleaning (which is a good job really).

i decided on a BN plec because i thought he would eat algae i still have masses of algae but i keep him for his personality :)

get yourself a rainbow shark, they eat algae like crazy, when he was in my 20 gallon, he would keep it clean.

I have a CAE and a common pleco. im trying to give them both away because recently the CAE has started to chase the pleco and my fan tail goldfish and i would like more of a fancy pleco for brighter colours.
im after a scarlet pleco if anyone knows where to get one from? :/

lol stop trying to get rid of your shark :p :fun:

i got the pleco because i wanted a fish for the bottom of the tank. my current stock are all mid water and top water dwellers.

Both really. I got my rubbernose becasue my 20 was covered and I couldn't be stuffed to clean it, but I also wanted another interesting ish fish. Now he's in my 4ft and is such a cuteie, like a little carnivourous puppy dog (he's given up algae for prawns and fish)

I got my bristlenoses for their good looks; most of my tanks don't have any algae eaters, other than the easily accommodated Wilkinson's swordblade.

Have to admit that in my youth I was tricked into giving houseroom to a couple of CAE's. Never again!

I once bought some amano shrimps when my tank was over-run with hair algae. I now have two SAEs and an albino bristlenose because I like them. If they eat any algae at all it's a bonus!
