Bought a Algae eater, been trying to get info on it, is it the same as a Chinese Algae Eater?, would like some info on it if someone can oblige.
Made an excelant job of my tank, its practically algae free, :) but what does he feed on once all the algae is gone? -_-

Hey there,
I had two very large Chinese algae eaters. If this is what you have, then they do best with a variety of foods and not just the algae in your tank.

This is what I fed mine:
Shrimp Pellets
Sinking Meat Tablets
Frozen brine shrimp and blood worms
Algae tablets
and they also ate the flakes and plankton that would fall to the bottom.

By eating all these varieties of food, they reach 8 inches long! Unfortunately when I did a water change a very large amount of aquarium salt got knocked into the tank by my little cousin and by the time I got them out and into a different tank and away from the salt it was too late.

I was very very upset because they really are great fish and you'd be surprised at the personality they have!

Mine swims in vertical circles near the glass. :D

Mine seems to like the algae tablets and flakes that fall to the bottom. There are too many others in there for me to feed him any of the other stuff.

CAE are the best algea eaters u can get they work there scales off to get that tank clean mine eats cucumber and shrimp pellets. But beware they get HUGE and may jump out of the tank
