Will Algae Destroyer type stuff work on brown algae? I have a reoccuring brown algae problem in my tank. It mostly covers the gravel rocks. I need to get rid of this stuff.

That algae is a pain. I had it once and ended up taking a few cups of gravel out and boiling it and scrubbing it. I donno if that stuff will work. Have you tried leaving the lights off for a bit. I think otos might eat brown algae. Might be wrong though, somebody i'm sure will either back me up or tell you otherwise.

The simple answer is, No
Your algae eater will not touch the stuff. If you have a reoccuring algae problem then you need to look at your water chemistry and/or lighting, before you spend all your time curing the problem for it to re-appear.
You will need to physically take out the offending algae from whatever it is inhabiting and scrape it off. A tedious task. Once it has been removed, soak the item with an aquarium disinfectant for about 10 minutes and then throughly wash off and replace back into your tank.
Green algae denotes too much light...
Brown algae denotes too little light or worse still dying algae. Dying algae secretes a toxin into the water and must be dealt with immediatly.
Slime(green) Too much light and nutrients.
It does look as though you have a task ahead of you..... Good luck.

I have Brown algae ,too as i have a new tank. My red tailed black shark is having a good time scraping it off, all day! Plus, i just bought 3 siamese algae eaters, and they are joining the fray! I agree with dragon about brown algae and too little lighting. I just changed my cool white lamps to triphospor, and two phillips light calld Aquarium and Plant and the other one is ultralume.

I run 17 tanks and seem - at one time or another - to get attacked by various types of algae. Scrubbing and treatments are always a solution but my best option is to drop in a pair of bristle nose catfish.

I love em   They seem to clear any form of algae so far encountered in my fish house.

Cute little chaps with bristles on their noses and always hard working - especially over night. ;)

is the bristle nose catfish compatible with everyone else in the tank?

i have tiger barbs, rosy barbs, and a firemouth cichild.
