Hi All,
We've been using sand as substrate in our tank for a couple of months now, and its starting to look quite unpleasant due to algae growing on it. Does anyone have any suggestions on how best to (a) remove the algae, and (B) prevent it from reoccurring? The tank contains Discus so I'm reluctant to start adding much in the way of chemicals. There are no plants, we do 25% water changes weekly, and pH is around 6.9.
I'm thinking of skimming off the top layer of the sand somehow but it has a tendency to swirl away as I move it.
Thanks,
Steve
