Will i need to replace it with a new one straight away or will the fish be fine for a day or two whilst i get one shipped?

Air stones barely oxygenate the water, you never have to replace it if you choose not to :)

hi stiffler69

i would replace it straight away just to make sure and it might be best getting a few spair ones aswell :good:

Good stuff thanks i want to replace it i was just concerned it would cause massive lost of oxygen in the tank im not too worried now.

Also will i be able to run two airstones from one pump?

Thanks for the reply :good:

The fish would be fine without an airstone ever. Neither of my tanks have airstones, the ripple caused by filter outlets are sufficient.

edit: Yes you can run two off one pump if you have extra airline tubing and a Y connector thingamabob.

Running multiple air stones from a single air pump depends on the power of it :) chances are, if tis got more then one outlet, it should be able to power more then 1 small air stone.

Well ive ordered one and should be with me thursday, was just concerned it would maybe effect the fish going from having one running to none at all, however my filter does produce quite a bubbly current so thats producing plenty of oxygen i imagine.

Thanks for replys

As said, air stones deliver barely any oxygen into the water, aslong as your filter output aggitates the surface of the tank your fine :good:

air stones may not oxygenate the water that much, but they provide needed circulation in large tanks.

i found this out from setting up a divider in my 30" long tank. without an airstone, the temperature is 74F on the side without the heater. with the airstone, the temperature is 77F on that side. not a big difference, but it might be in larger tanks.

Buy a wooden airblock from your LFS much better (finer bubbles) As said before, water surface aggitation is much more important for gas exchange.
