Just afetr opinions on whether to use a bubble stone to add bubbles. My filter return power head creates a fair amount of surface movment and water movement so is there anything to be gained by bubbles or will it just cool the water down quicker and make my heater work harder. If there is gain then which should I go for . Bubbles in a line or circle etc etc.

Tank is a 4 ft tank with 5 rainbows, 3 golden barbs, 5 siamese flying foxs, 1 clown, 1 ruby shark.

an airstone would oxygenate it. not the aircurtains or the ornaments producing huge bubbles although i dont really see the need for more oxygen in your tank

They do very little to oxygenate a tank, unless it's a very strong pump creating surface movement.

It would just be for asethetics really, surface agitation from the filter should be enough to oxygenate the water.

if you're worried about the huge air bubbles, try this idea.

in one of our tanks i used a 4-way splitter and 4 airstones. i prefer the wood ones as the bubbles are smaller. then i bought the on/off valve for a refridgerator ice line, and a blowback valve. install the iceline on/off a few inches away from the air pump. you can regulate the amount of air sent into the tank.
(i usually leave it on almost full blast unless i have people over, etc.)
