Aeration Question

hi all, i just signed up today and have a question regarding my discus tank. Its 3 by 18 by 2ft high i am using a fluval 205 and a eheim ecco with plants. I was wondering if its necessary to have aeration in the tank due to the height of the tank? any comments will be greatly appreciated

As long as the outflow of the filter provides sufficient surface movement there shouldn't be a need for an air pump since the majority of extra oxygen from an airpump actually comes from the extra surface agitation they cause.
