Hey everyone, now I know that these fish are not generally for community aquariums, and I have read the related article in Oddballs forum but i have fallen in love with dwarf puffers (as a lot of people do I guess)

Basicaly has anyone had any success keeping them in a community aquarium, I was thinking of getting 1 or 2, I currently have 3 corys (in a fry tank) 1 RTBS(who I will rehome if I go for puffers), 2 dwarf gourami, 4 dalmation mollies and 2 molly fry.

So what do you reckon? also I have fallen for bumblebee gobies lol they have freshwater ones in my lfs, so are they compatible with my current setup and/or puffers?

could put puffers in my 6gal fry tank, but that poses a problem when it comes to needing to put fry in there?

all suggestions welcome, im just trying to gather a heap of advice on it really

Cheers
Stu

Put them in the tank with other vegetation fish (like plecos ) that aren't aggressive and you'll be fine.

Why don't you do a little research on this puffer fish of yours. Make sure it's not aggressive towards other fish. If they are peaceful, then the fish should get along. However, there are those that wont do well with others.

Dwarf Puffer are in fact highly aggressive. I see a lot of potential problems here especialy if you plan on moving the Cory's over. If your really set on them I would put them in the fry tank alone and in a group. Bumble Bee Gobies can be housed in freshwater, however they are better off in brackish water, same with the Mollies.

Ok points taken, I was just a little confused as there are countless posts about some being aggressive and some not etc etc, the mollies are absolutely fine in FW but will try setting up dwarfs in the fry tank, im guessing moving fry in there too is a big no no?

They're pretty curious and adventurous, probably more suitable for a community of their own. Iv heard stories about them chewing up fish many times their own size.

I have a GSP, a bit differant, but he nipped up my corys when i tried to house them together. Dont know if dwarfs would do the same or not.

ok, well I think I will go for putting a couple in my 6gal tank and if/when I get more fry I leave them in main tank until they are 2 big for breeding trap, then move em over to fry tank and puffers to main tank for a week until fry are big enough to go back in main tank, and swap em over again.

Again more advice greatly appreciated or anyone with similar experiences?

BBG are found in everything from brackish to soft acidic waters. I have also read where a gobiologist says they are equally good in FW or BW, but that feeding them is the main thing about keeping them.

Mine are over two years into FW and show no detrimental signs at all.
