i'm even newer to fish than you, but i have a few shrimp, mine are Yamato (or amano) shrimp around £2.50 each from my LFS, i also have corys and neither seem to bother with each other, not sure about ur plec. As for numbers i've heard the more the merrier! they love to clean algae but mine tend to be inactive most of the time hiding under rocks and bogwood - although when they do come out they provide plenty of entertainment. they will scavenge most foods, mine love sinking pellets

Mmm that was my thoughts too. Could be done but cichlids are/can be nippers.
A bamboo shrimp could work though.

you should be fine m8. just depends if your rams get a taste for srimp meat. i have had shrimps and rams together no probs.

i really suppose it depends on the fish, ill try some bamboo shrimps and ill let you know how it goes :)
