hi all can any1 give me some info on what i should do, i have a rena 120x50x70 400lts up and running it comes with the xp3 external filter but i want to add another, i'm going with the eheim 2028 but can any 1 tell me what do i do about seeding the new filter do i just plug it in and it will seed from the tank water or should i add something to tank water to boost the new filter
i have had the tank up and running for 6 weeks now all i have in tank is

5 xray tetra
5 black tetra
2 corys
they have all been in tank for 3 weeks
4 red gouramis ( just last weekend )
amm 0
nit 0
nitrates 10
i want to add lots more over the nxt few months but will be taking it slow
so should i add the filter now or wait a few months then add it, and when i add it do i just set it up in tank and just run it or what

I'd recommend going ahead and setting up the new filter. If you're going to add a filter to the system (as opposed to replacing a filter), you have the luxury of not worrying about seeding. After you've set up the new canister, bacterial colonies will grow in with time.

I would agree with your approach to take it slow in the next few months.

Sounds like you're on the right track.

I added a second filter a few months back but as i already had an internal filter up,running and fully cycled i did nothing to the new external but let it do its job.

The first filter will cope with the load well enough as it did before. :)
