Just wanted to check with everyone and see what your options are and tank material? I personally like my acrylic tanks but don't mind glass either. I have found awesome deal on acrylic tanks that have scratches then take my time sanding and buffing the tank.

I have two glass and two acrylic - the acrylic is certainly easier to handle and the view is far clearer than glass but it scratches very easily. Luckily - at least my scratches don't show once there is water in the tank so I haven't worried about getting rid of them. Price is SLOWLY coming down as well. Glass is far easier to clean. So pro's and cons - if you can afford acrylic I think it's worth getting it - otherwise a plain old glass tank will do. Oh and acrylics often need a wider rim and a bar across the center to keep it from warping. Both my tank's bar is already showing a lot of warp - just a matter of time I guess before something snaps. It's also a pain trying to fit large items in the tank, hook up heaters and filters etc. - trying to avoid that tension bar. Just nothing can touch the beauty of an acrylic tank. My bet on resale you don't get a dime more for them than glass. So for the time being I suspect glass will retain it's popularity unless you want an exotic shape or something.

Depends.if ya have children.or not as.well....haha.

Crayons, forks, toy cars, sticks, various other items of destruction.....you want glass. Easy to keep clean and won't.scratch.

Acrylic...that's for when you have no worries, and have the money.

I dream of one day setting up an acrylic marine tank, full with corals and everything. But with a 4 year old....that's just a pipe dream for a while yet. By the time I get there...it will cost the same as glass...so there is an up side...haha...
