A Little Embarrassing To Admit...

Hi guys!

I've been a member here for a while, and have been fish keeping for YEARS, but I had given it a break after a pretty bad fish ordeal I had...

Now I forget how to treat popeye!

Can anyone please let me know asap? This fish has already lost an eye/eyesight from a previous popeye encounter.

I have tetracycline and tri-sulfa tablets available only at the moment.

Need to find out what caused the popeye. It closely related to dropsy due to the build up of fluids.

Popeye can be caused by bad water quality, bacterial, parasites, injury.

How many gallons is the tank.
How many fish and which type.
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.

Are both eyes bulging out, or just one eye.


Antibiotics wipe the beneifical bacteria out in the filter. So I would only advise using antibiotics in isolation.
