I couldn't find a fishkeeping podcast, so I thought it might be fun to throw one together. The results are up now at the link below. It's a first pass attempt, so a little rough around the edges, but you'll get the basic idea. If nothing else, you'll get to hear my quaint English accent!

The topic is "community fish", and covers the basic problems associated with choosing fish for community tanks. There is an indepth look at characins, including some good and bad species for community tanks. It lasts about 16 minutes.

If things work out, there will be a new one each week. It would be nice to have "guest speakers", so if there is anyone who'd like to record a segment for another show, that would be nice. Suggestions for other themes and topics would be welcome.

Cheers,

Neale

Love your accent :D

Much better that us up in the north.

Great work, something from everyone to learn from :)

Finaly, what is that in your picture, for some time i've thought it to be a snake but I just can't put the shape together.

Excuse an ignorant old man, but what the heck is a podcast?

Is it when you use peas for fishing lures?
Is it the names of the actors who play the peas?
Is it what you use to splint a broken peapod?

Google says "Podcasting, a portmanteau of Apple's "iPod" and "broadcasting", is a method of publishing files to the Internet, allowing users to subscribe to a feed and receive new files automatically by subscription, usually at no cost. It first became popular in late 2004, used largely for audio files. "

I must say i enjoyed listening, looking forward to future podcasts.. :D

Just listened to it - I love your accent :) Oh so eloquent & quaint. Though you definitely had some tongue twisters in there ;)

I think it's a great idea and you should do some more - and it would be lovely to involve some other speaker/readers too.

Look forward to the next chapter :good:

Haha - nice little "plug" you threw in there for TFF !

Well shucks (blush). Thanks.

Bloo -- I'd love to have other speakers on "the show". I suppose that would be needed is for someone to record themselves on their computer, and mail me an MP3 of it. Are you volunteering?

Cheers,

Neale

very well done. and oh what a splendid accent!

college students? cheap labor? bah! i take offense

by the way, i keep meaning to ask, what is your avatar a picture of? i've been puzzling over it for ages

Erm, lovely thought, but I'll have to decline - I'd just have the micky taken for my (very slight!) South African accent  Would love to hear some Scotsmen volunteer though ! :D lol

It's Kosh, a Vorlon. He's a myserious, contradictory character from a brilliant TV show called Babylon 5. He has to wear that costume so you won't recognise him. Underneath that outfit he's a... well, that would spoil the surprise.

Vorlons consider themselves infallible voices of authority. They are, of course, wrong.

As an when I get to change the "Leader of the Fishes" thingy, I might have to write something like "It's a Vorlon" underneath the image.

Cheers,

Neale

mmm I'd like to know too. Looks like a snake's head (but obviously isn't).

Edit: ahhhh (mmm interesting!)

Edition 2, Catfish, is out now.

Enjoy. Until I get a proper recording microphone, I have to make do with the one built into the computer, hence the sound of my voice is not great. But I think I got the volume right, at least. Last one was a bit quiet.

Cheers,

Neale
