Here is my 10 year old parakeet, Pickles. He is packed with emotion. His favorite sound is the sound of flowing water. He loves to play with his boxing bag, and also likes to look at "that other bird" in the mirror. He will play a game with you where he will whistle, then you cpy his exact whistle, and he repeats it, if you get it wrong though, better watch out, he has a disproving noise, that sounds like a button meaning you got something wrong. Its crazy! He also likes to hang out on pianos, and beds. He is my best bud, I love him.
(My guy is giving the death stare in the first pic, he is all business! lol)

Nice parakeet. You must take very good care of him as he looks very healthy for a 10 year old parakeet. I had parakeets as a child. Thought about possibly getting one now....we'll see.

I do my very best to keep him going! I love parakeets, a easier and more laid back pet to keep for sure. I think you would like to keep one, again, espically after a long break.

Congrats man!

Very cute 'keet... Is it just one or do you keep a pair/group?
More importantly, how many tricks have you taught the smart fella, or is it mainly the game you mentioned?

Thanks! Just one bird. He also knows the game/trick, stair step. Move your fingers on by one to make a appearing staircase, that he will climb up! He is also knows how to step on keys, in the same KEY!

As in piano keys? That's insane! How could a bird know how to choose notes that please the ears, and how to differentiate between the white keys and the accidentals.

That is seriously impressive. It proves that audio that pleases humans is not exclusive to humans alone but also other animals. I had my doubt about the opinions on pleasure from other animals especially when it came to taste and sound, since my dog will eat things I know most humans would find taste disgusting such as if anchovies fell on the ground, he would enjoy it but 99.9% of people wouldn't (who the heck likes anchovies?)... Clearly audio is a different story.
It also shows that birds don't just make a random noise, but parrots probably make their noises/imitations based on notes they actually hear. I noticed that my friend's amazon parrot when repeating things repeats some things in different octaves from men with deeper voices, showing further that it is about the note.

Yep! Piano keys! I totally agree with you as well. They are amazing creatures!
