4 Rosy Barbs In A 10g

Nope, not a problem to me. You could maybe even get 6.

EDIT - Wow, sorry I thought it said cherry barbs for some reason. In this case you cant fit that.

Rosy barbs get to 4/5/6", too big for a 10g. I don't know why anyone bothers answering you, you've already asked the large amount of us on chat whether you can, several times, and had a resounding 'no'. Cherry barbs, yes, rosy barbs, no.

I agree with OohFeeshy, I have Rosy Barbs and they are pretty big, also fairly active. I wouldn't put them in a 10g.

No, no and NO.

You can't keep a pair of firemouths in a 10, you can't keep a firemouth and 2 dwarf gourami in a 10, you can't put rosey barbs in a 10. you have had a few suggestions but you just ginore them and ask for an equally ridiculous fish.

What's the next question? "How many Red Tail Catfish can I keep in my 10?"

Most people here are new to the hobby. You don't need to mock anyone on the site to make you feel better about yourself. I have been in the hobby for 37 years and I am disgusted by that kind of attitude. I find that people who put themselves on a pedestal by humiliating future hobbyist are not needed in any fishkeeping community. Especial not like a forum like this where there is so many opportunity to help others and encourage them to learn about fishkeeping.

You haven't been on chat with windtrancer. We have. Many a time. Before he posted, he'd already asked us, at least 3 times whether he could and every time he'd got a no. Before that, it was 'what can i keep with a female firemouth in a 10g', 'can i keep 2 kribs in a 10g' 'can i keep 2 rams in a 10g'... again, several times on each one. Why did he want cichlids so badly? Becasue he had some cichlid pellets lying around...

Maybe you should wait until you know all the facts before jumping to the defence of someone like windtrancer.

He asks the question (like can I keep 2 firemouths and some dwarf gourami in a 10 gallon). Everyone says no and explains that the tank is too small. Then he waits about an hour until others have joined and asks again. this goes on for around 2 days before he changes the fish to something equally unsuitable and starts on that for 2 days.

So next time, learn some facts before criticising my methods.

Your METHODS are pretty clear. Looks like you are mocking someone to me. Why would I need to question if it's right or wrong? If you don't want to answer a member's question why not just ignore them? You are discouraging other people from posting their own questions.

This guy looks like he just bought a used 30 gallon tank 2 weeks ago. Like most people new to the hobby he is full of ideas and questions. This may annoy some self proclaimed experts of this hobby, but uncertainty is not uncommon for those that are just getting into the hobby. This member is posting in the beginner forum! You are posting in a forum full of beginners like him. The same questions will come up again and again. Why don't you just ignore it instead of mocking them. You bring on criticism to your own METHODS.

Well, according to his signature, he already has a pair of firemouths living in a 10 gal :/

Edit* I had written a full comeback but I can't be bothered with this one. If you have been anywhere near chat you will fully understand the reason for the response.

Windtrancer, I think you need to start with a few general guidelines about 10 gallon tanks. They are not suitable for fish that:

exceed 2 inches in adult length (the single exception being a betta, but then that limits you as to tankmates)

are heavy waste producers

are territorial (unless you keep a single specimen)

are fast swimmers

are highly sensitive as to water quality (unless really tiny and tank kept understocked)

Please check any fish you fancy for these factors first, before you ask. This is easily done by googling and will save a lot of wear and tear. There is no point in even asking about a fish that grows to 5 ", like a rosy barb.

way to be rather stuck up
take the stick out of your bum and stare at your fish rather than piss off ppl online

This is fantastic, I would like you to know that you have really made me smile! :D

How intriguing that this thread, where I had to point out to people that they should avail themselves of all the facts before criticising my comments, is one in which you have chosen to criticise me without even bothering to avail yourself of when the thread was last posted in.

Look at the date of my post you have criticised.

Next time, before you post, check once more to make sure you don't hit this button: ;)
