30 W incandescent total

for a 10 gallon aquarium?

I'd like to add 1-2 plants and I read that java fern is easy and hard to kill. I would really prefer not to add flourescent lights at this point (trying to go slowly and keep cost down).

Any advice on whether this lighting will be OK for this type of plant? Can anyone recommend another plant also that would do well under this type of lighting?

great. looks like flourescent lighting won't be a must after all.... I have mollies; they love poking at the plants for extra food. I'm sure they'd much rather feed off of real plants.
