...am I going to get a 20-30 gallon to fit in there?!? I think my mom is just making excuses. Okay, I would probably have to cram a little bit but I do have enough room!

Here.

God they're pretty. And they're about as cheap as most of the females on there now! :grr: Oh well, patience, only 11 days...

Buut, down to the more important issue: Uh, what?
My male Ares (who I might not breed because he doesn't build bubblenests anymore, what's up with that?) is probably around Jupiter's tank 50% of the day. Now, Jupiter & Ares I got at the same time at the same pet shop. Since then they have always been in vew of each other because they are in two second tanks. Hoping Jupiter wouldn't get eggs, because I don't want her to as I'm not going to breed her, I moved her away. I noticed that day the male would hide in his rocks with minimal movement. He went on like that for the rest of the evening before I moved her back again just now. What should I do? I don't want to make him depressed - I have another female, but she's not exactly 'suitable for mating.' Nyx is definately a female, but, for some reason she tends to flare a little at the males. And Ares never pays attention to Loki, or Alpha... I'm really stuck.

You'll find room. Also, Nyx is definitely NOT a female. Sometimes males have ovipositors too. like yours. There is no possible way from the pics we saw that Nyx is a female. BTW, pretty pair at good price. GL

Nah, that's not the one I'm talking about. Nyx is definately a female vt, Alpha was the one I'm not sure about; Nyx has an oviposter and fins wayy too short to be female, I got her after I got Ares & Jupiter.

Ohhhhhh so that was the multi coloured guy? Haha. My bad. Anyways, lovely butterfly-effect on the male. I have females just like that one :D

Oh, I know.

So right now I'm thinking of space issues: Is 20 a bad option for a growout? Will this promote dieoffs? I don't really know how big a 30 will be, so I'm trying to save on space, not so much substrate and live plants... :/ But when Ares needs to be taken out of the 10 gallon (which he will be, eventually, I was getting him adapted to the evironment and hoping for him to build a bubblenest, but now I don't know if I want to breed him seeing as how he has the rather lackluster attitude.) I'll need another tank, plus one or two more if I get a pair. If I got 3 square 1gallon ones that fit together it could work, but I've never personally seen those sold in stores. :/

EDIT: Maybe I should just get a bunch of these and save desk space.

Eh, it's not really inhumane seeing as how it's a gallon, but I wouldn't buy it. The hole isn't a bit problem as much as the size, although it would be an annoyance.

That scares me... they think 3 goldfish can fit in a gallon? And the darn thing is half full with gravel!!

Just because a male doesn't build bubblenests when he's by himself doesn't mean he won't in the spawn tank.

Females and males can see each other even if you're not going to spawn them. Keeping them out of sight of each other won't stop the female from producing eggs either.
