I've stopped using the askol replacement nitrite and carbon cartridges and replaced them with a Nitra-zorb which can be recharged in warm salty water every couple of weeks. Hi,no problems with the pump and heater both working fine. I'm still using the sponges supplied with the tank which I clean/rinse with every clean.
